Literary Forest HillsThe Forest Hills Cemetery presents a Sunday afternoon cemetery walking tour

Sunday, August 15th, 2021 at 2PM

Please join historian Anthony Sammarco for an afternoon Cemetery Walking Tour.

Join Anthony Sammarco for a tour visiting the gravesites of some of the prominent literary figures memorialized at Forest Hills.

In the 19th and 20th centuries, Boston had its fair share of writers and authors, some who were well known and others who published books and newspapers but are relatively unknown.

On this walk we will explore not just the graves, but readings from such luminaries as Susannah Rowson, William Follen Adams, Edward Everett Hale, William Lloyd Garrison, Maria Susanna Cummins, the Taylors of the Boston Globe, and poets e.e. cummings and Anne Sexton.

We will read short writings and poems at the graves.

Admission:
$10 for advance tickets
$12 day of the tour

Tour meets at the Forest Hills Cemetery Visitor’s Circle.

This Walking Tour lasts up to 90 minutes with frequent stops over varied terrain. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water.
