Fern Hill
MEMORIALIZATION
There are a
wide variety of ways to memorialize a loved one at Forest Hills, and those
mentioned here are traditionally used as tributes to cremated individuals.
Often when people are first choosing cremation they do not think about
memorialization, especially if they are planning to scatter their ashes
somewhere in nature. However, memorialization can create a place for family
and friends to visit, honor and remember their loved ones.
Fern Hill
Columns
The clustered columns of Fern Hill are designed to accommodate engraved
cast bronze plaques as an outdoor form of memorialization close to niches
or scattering places. The columns and plaques provide a striking memorial
in the beautiful and natural setting of Fern Hill.
The Tree
of Remembrance
A truly outstanding option is the beautiful Tree of Remembrance located
in our Columbarium. You select a bronze leaf from this tree on which the
name of your loved one will be engraved and permanently displayed. The
Tree is often used to remember individuals who have been scattered at
Fern Hill, or even buried elsewhere.
Stained
Glass Windows
Many of the existing stained glass windows of the Columbarium were donated
as memorials to deceased loved ones. Some of the newer chapels have space
available for leaded stained glass tributes.
Memorial
Elements in the Landscape
Memorial trees may be planted on certain sites in the cemetery. We will
be glad to suggest a site, make recommendations, and quote prices for
a memorial tree. Stone or wooden benches set into our magnificent landscape
can also be dedicated to the memory of a person or family, as can certain
landscape and architectural features. In this case, you not only create
a memorial to an individual, but contribute to the beauty of Forest Hills
and enhance the experience of all who visit.
