MEMORIALIZATION

Forest Hills has some of the most spectacular memorial sculpture to be found in any garden cemetery in the United States. Some of the finest examples of 19th century American sculpture can be found on the grounds, including masterpieces in marble and bronze by Daniel Chester French and Martin Milmore. Many people consider a visit to Boston incomplete without a tour of Forest Hills Cemetery to view the broad variety and striking eloquence of the monuments on our grounds.

MONUMENTS

Our staff will be happy to review the different types of monuments currently available and refer you to appropriate sources to meet your monument needs. You will have a range of options from a simple headstone to a more elaborate and personalized monument. There are many fine independent monument dealers in the Boston area who can work with you to develop an appropriate memorial.

Today, some people are even choosing to follow the Victorian tradition and commission a local sculptor to make something truly unique. Touring our Contemporary Sculpture Path may give you some ideas. Monument restrictions in our newest sections (the Gardens of Devotion, Enduring Love and Meditation) have been relaxed to encourage more individualistic memorialization.

OTHER OPTIONS

Some people wish to remember a loved one by selecting a memorial bench, sponsoring the planting of a tree, or adopting a significant historic feature located on Forest Hills' magnificent grounds.
